TXT Taehyun — His Notes Soar Above My Grades?

Hi fiction lover! Welcome back to my series where I talk about each member of TOMORROW X TOGETHER, giving a brief introduction along with some links to get to know them better. Today, it’s time for Kang Taehyun! Taehyun is one of the youngest members, born in 2002 in Seoul, and was scouted by many agencies before he chose BigHit because of it being closest to his house! If you want to find out more about TXT Taehyun, read on and smile with me.

Is TXT Taehyun Actually Cold?

The worldwide debate has struck fictiondipity. Is Taehyun actually a cold person? He claims that he is a cold person, as cold as Antarctica. But MOA doesn’t seem to think so! Take this cute video for example. This is my favorite type of video of Taehyun, where MOA shows off his warm side while contrasting what he claims about his icy personality. That doesn’t mean that Taehyun is completely wrong, however, but I like to think of him as an honest person who doesn’t have time for BS. When there were allegations about lip syncing, Taehyun was the first to defend their live singing—watch any TXT concert and you’ll come to the conclusion that they sing live. And his dry humor? I can’t believe that Taehyun called broccoli firewood. I can’t help but agree that it doesn’t look like actual food.

Now that we’ve settled the coldness debate, we can focus on the endless high notes that Taehyun constantly delivers. In my Yeonjun post from last week, you’ll find in one of his stories that Taehyun used to sing a whole octave lower when he came into the company. Taehyun constantly talks about how hard he worked to improve his vocals. And now, we can see him soaring above and hitting notes even in the fifth octave. Check out this vocal showcase where Taehyun hits an Eb5 in “Blue Spring.”

Taehyun grew up as a child actor and model, so it’s no surprise that he moved into wanting to become a full-on superstar. Starting from TXT’s earliest variety shows, you can see his effortless confidence, and how he used his early experience in the spotlight to become comfortable in his talents. I love his simple, “I don’t make mistakes” while he ordered burgers for them in New York in ONE DREAM.TXT.

More High Notes and Magic Tricks

Have you watched Taehyun’s variety show “Academy Reincarnation?” Here, you can see Taehyun using a variety of skills while trying out new things, including playing traditional Korean music, acting, salsa dancing, and even horse riding. Taehyun tackles every challenge with grace and good spirit. And if you look really hard in episode 4, you can see Taehyun doing improv and showing off his jealous, romantic side.

If you’re up for a longer video, check out this fabulous reaction to one of Taehyun’s special stages, where he sang with Huening Kai for “Endless Rain.” He belts out a D5 in this performance and blows away even classical musicians. I can’t leave out his iconic cover of “Over And Over Again.” He was slaying even in 2019. Later on, he treated us to his cover of “Let Me.” In the 2024 Fanlive, he showed his charisma in his solo stage “Finesse.”

Check out Taehyun in TO DO X TXT to find out more about his natural smarts. Although he is one of the youngest of the group, he often shows his wisdom and is known for giving good advice to MOA.
