My First TXT Concert Experience

Hi fiction lover! My first TXT concert experience was a life-changing event, and probably the best thing I did in Korea in my year there! Let’s travel back to 2022—particularly, around July. Yes, we’re going back to ACT: LOVESICK, TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s first in person concert.

TXT Concert Struggles

I’ll start with the totally stressful part of getting tickets. So, as soon as the concert was announced, I bought the MOA membership which is required to enter the raffle. A portion of those in the raffle would be given a guaranteed ticket into the concert. I was so hopeful! I remember anxiously waiting in class to check the result of the raffle.

When I didn’t win the raffle, I was SO crushed. I remember walking back to my dorm about to break out into tears. What made it worse was that two of my friends, the only ones I knew who also wanted to go to the concert, both got tickets from the raffle! They sent me a voice memo right after the raffle results telling me that they’re sorry for me, but that they both won. It felt like the unfairness of life was knocking me on the head. But I couldn’t give up yet.

I decided to plan with my other friend to go to a PC bang (a PC room) to buy tickets on the first-come-first-serve presale. I was even more nervous about this than the raffle. It felt like my last chance. I clicked as fast as I could with my friend. I entered the queue of thousands of people trying to get in. Miraculously, even though I couldn’t understand the Korean on the ticketing website, I managed to get tickets! My friend got me a ticket for Sunday, July 3rd, and I got one for Saturday, July 2nd. My Saturday ticket was in the “limited visibility” portion, and my Sunday one was also on the third floor. I didn’t have the best view, but I was more than happy to get a chance to see my favorite artist.

Concert Wins

Then comes the day of the concert. I was so nervous that I’d somehow miss the concert, so I got there extra early. I’m talking hours early. I met two of my friends, who were trying to exchange their tickets with each other—one had a Saturday ticket, while the other had a Sunday ticket. I looked at some merchandise and picked up some freebie Huening Kai posters. We also received banners to hold up during the last song. I went into the venue and watched as my friends got in trouble with the staff. I was nervous for them, but thankfully one of them still managed to get in. We had to sit separately, but I knew I would cheer with my friend in spirit. She even lent me her light stick so that I wouldn’t feel alone in the crowd.

The big screens in the venue, in Jamsil Indoor Stadium, played TXT music videos to pass the time until the performance. As the time drew near, the stadium filled and the excitement grew. Then, everything went dark. Finally, it was time for their entrance! They entered standing like total bosses in prince outfits and staring into the camera in the coolest possible way. The way the crowd went crazy was electrifying! Finally, I was able to celebrate with other MOA.

I think I was in a total daze while they performed their set. I had my giant binoculars, looking into them at every chance I got to see the guys up close. They performed most of their discography, and I waved my light stick to the beat like everyone else. They interacted with the crowd, my favorite part when they each took a turn rapping Yeonjun’s part in “Lonely Boy.” Everything passed so quickly. During every outfit change, the venue would play a scene that pieced together a magical storyline—it would feel dreamy and abstract, five magical boys in a world of fantasy, danger, and wonder. Seeing them stare into the camera during these magical scenes was amazing, the crowd cheering every time a new cut was shown.

TXT performed all of my favorites, including “Anti-Romantic” and “Trust Fund Baby.” I totally appreciated hearing their live vocals. They danced with all that they had. And their outfits ranged from magical princes to flowing contemporary wear for their songs like “Opening Sequence” and “Eternally.” “Eternally” was a definite standout, with the crowd going wild during the dramatic changes between the chorus and verse.

The last songs were “MOA Diary” and the secret song “Sweat.” We all waved our banners, and there was a sea of phone lights in a true concert vibe. When it was time for them to go, I waved my light stick as much as I could, wishing that they would see the tiny light among the sea of light sticks. On the train ride home, I met with my two friends, and some people on the train were nice enough to approach us and give us free photocards! It truly felt like I was a part of the MOA family.

On Sunday, I went again—this time alone. I received some Taehyun freebies from girls outside the venue, and more photocards of the other boys. While I was seated, some sweet girls gave me candy, and I took the treats gratefully. It felt like we were a family, all there to support the boys. The energy was electrifying just like on Saturday. I didn’t have a light stick this time, so I just bobbed my head along to the music while looking into my giant binoculars. It passed just as quickly as the first day. At the end of it all, I felt full and empty all at once. Full because I finally fulfilled my dream in seeing TXT, but also empty because it was over. All I can say is this—TOMORROW X TOGETHER—Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai—fighting forever!

So that was my TXT concert experience. Hope you enjoyed it, and that you will see them in the future too! If you already have been able to see them, what did you think of the boys? Click here for more of my blog!
