Hi, fiction lover! To jump right into it, I know that Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 might send me into a spiral. The good kind! If you’ve been following this mega-popular anime, you should know that the first two episodes of season 2 have been released. I cannot stop talking about it, even though there are still eight episodes to go. I just had to write a little review slash first impressions for you guys. Warning: some spoilers lie ahead!

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 — What’s New?
So, we still have the coziest vibes following Frieren, Fern, and Stark. Frieren offers those slice-of-life moments that we all love, layered with a rich fantasy world that always has a new lore-drop to offer.
In this season, it looks like Frieren and the gang are furthering their exploration of the Northern Lands, getting one step closer to Aureole, otherwise known as heaven. That’s not to say that their journey is a safe one. The remnants of the Demon King are still very much alive.
Frieren is very much known for its “side quests,” so I bet we shouldn’t expect a straight shot to Aureole. From the first two episodes, it looks like we’re getting a ton of insight into Frieren’s original journey—all while exploring her two new party members, who have a lot to learn about becoming true heroes.
First Impressions: Expanded
Realizing We’ll Have to Wait Till Every Friday for a New Episode
The first episode of season 2 was pretty quiet. It follows Frieren, Fern, and Stark struggling in a cave where magic doesn’t work. Stark has to jump in to save the day, and Frieren reflects on a similar event where she had to trust her party members fully. It finishes with Stark refusing to join Wirbel’s party, staying faithful to Frieren and Fern.
Episode two is much more explosive, diving into the Hero of the South, the man who made a great dent in the Demon King’s army, even bringing his right-hand man down with him in his last stand. This episode gives tons of insight into Frieren before she said “yes” to joining Himmel’s party.
Episode two finishes with Frieren, Fern, and Stark retrieving a famous sword—all because Himmel would not refuse the request if he were there.
All I can say is that while episode one brings you slowly back into the world and vibe of Frieren, episode two brings a healthy dose of adventure and lore. We even have an epic fight scene! The trio shows just how good their teamwork has become.
I am reminded of why I love Frieren so much. It’s not just a slow fantasy, but an exploration of second chances and the wonders of time. Frieren is by far my favorite character, and it feels like there are so many unexplored areas that can be unearthed. For example, the Hero of the South came out of left field.
This is probably because I never read the manga, so everything new is hitting me that much harder. I cannot wait to see how Stark and Fern further develop. Not just their relationship, but their fighting abilities and their reactions to the endless knowledge Frieren has about world history.
Season Expectations & Predictions for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2
TFW a New Episode Drops
Of course, I am looking forward to more cozy moments in the anime. But just the same, I know that I’m going to love the fight scenes and the moments when I’m questioning whether Frieren and the party are getting out alive.
I guess the writers are upping the stakes through unique rules in the magic system. For instance, Frieren almost gets ended in season 2, episode one, thanks to not being able to access her magic. It was a close call even when Stark was there.
Seeing the trio trust each other warms my heart each time. My heart also aches for Himmel, and I know I’ll probably cry when Frieren reflects on another memory related to their great adventure. Also, the Hero of the South was such a dashing and chill guy—I wonder who else we’ll meet in the next eight episodes.
