Are You Sure?! Review — Jimin x Jungkook Adventure

06.11.24 | fictiondipity.com | No Comments

Hi fiction lover! How are you doing this November? Do you have any traditions during this time? Living in the US, I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Of course, as an ARMY, I’m looking forward to Jin’s album. I’m also digging through the archives to watch more BTS content. I’m actually a relatively new fan and didn’t really become an ARMY until 2019 or so! So I have a lot to catch up on. I was more than happy to find that Are You Sure?! was released on Disney Plus. If I could describe it in two words, it would be comforting and insightful. I hope you enjoy my Are You Sure?! review, and please give the show a watch if you can!

Are You Sure?! Review

So. The teaser for Are You Sure?! was most definitely memorable. A Jungkook and Jimin vacation show? The fandom exploded with theories about what type of tone this show would have. People were already comparing it to In the Soop, and I couldn’t be more happy about the comparison. After all, that is my comfort show—I love just turning it on and forgetting about the day’s worries.

Excitedly, I loaded the first episode on the day it came out. I always have this weird feeling that I will never watch something for the “first time” ever again, so I need to enjoy the first watch as much as possible. I was transported to a faraway yet recent time, when Jungkook was promoting “Seven.” Jimin takes a plane to see Jungkook, and from there, they explore the US, particularly Connecticut.

So I didn’t have a particular opinion about Connecticut beforehand, but the boys made it seem beautiful and intriguing! I love the restaurants and little hideouts that they found, and their lounging in canoes across the river was just so healing. Their chemistry is off the chain, and it made me wonder when they crossed the line from friends to brothers.

Waiting for the following episodes was torture… But eventually, Taehyung (V) joined the group, and they made their mark together on Jeju Island. Having been to Jeju Island before, I thought I was prepared for these episodes! I was most definitely not. In fact, my eyes were opened to new scenery and beautiful things about the island. Taehyung added another hint of mischief to the group. Watching them play around made me smile and laugh multiple times.

Finally, we reach Sapporo, the last destination. The snowy wonderland was a perfect setting for Jimin and Jungkook to make another timeless memory before their enlistment. The eating tour, the snowboarding and skiing, and the hot springs shenanigans were enough to convince me to give the city in Japan a visit one day. Another round of sashimi, anyone?

Favorite Moments & Season 2 Coming?

If you haven’t yet watched and you don’t want spoilers, feel free to skip this section! However, I couldn’t resist talking about some of my favorite moments in my Are You Sure?! review.

In Connecticut, Jimin orders a black & blue burger that he really is looking forward to. He takes one bite… and then he makes a face. It’s obvious that the blue cheese has some type of weird funk that he isn’t used to. I feel you, Jimin! I felt bad as he forced himself to eat more. (Isn’t it strange how we can convince ourselves that our taste buds might get used to something?) In the end, our sweetheart Jungkook shares some of his other tasty sandwich.

Also, Jimin gets the stomach bug and spends some time passed out—also multiple trips to the bathroom. This might sound weird, but as someone with stomach problems, I felt super affirmed by this scene! It made me feel like it was okay that I have a “weird” stomach. Don’t get me wrong, I know Jimin has a normal stomach, but it just made me think that even the person I look up to can go through similar bodily problems.

In Jeju, the three youngest members of BTS play around in a villa-like house that’s probably made up of mostly glass. I loved this oasis! They were able to relax and cause mischief in the see-through pool. (Can I have that in my house too, please?) The trio caused chaos and even more laughter than the first couple of episodes.

In Sapporo, Jimin and Jungkook using their Japanese skills was heartwarming. It can be nerve-racking to use a new language, and I totally relate to them having to use translation apps and their body language. The snowy atmosphere was a perfect setting—a winter wonderland, if you will.

Jungkook copped several tuna onigiri from the convenience store, and I loved seeing Jimin fall in love with the “deep flavor” of the snack. They tested their bodies with ultra-hot hot springs and super-cold pools, and I could almost feel the chill and the heat on my own skin. Has anyone ever taken such a loud bath?

While snowboarding and skiing, they fell many times. I relate to this too—when I tried snowboarding, I had to get used to the constant falls. In the end, they got the hang of it. Skiing was much easier for them, and they sped down the hills like pros. Understandable, since they’re such coordinated dancers.

In the end, they promise to go on another trip together and meet ARMY again. I can’t wait for a season 2! Where would you like the boys to visit next? Are we ready for something like Bon Voyage again? I would cry! I’m praying for the boys’ remaining days in their service, and I’m looking forward to J-hope’s and Jin’s activities. So, that’s it for my Are You Sure?! review. I hope you’ll join me on my blog again! Thank you for exploring fandom, stories, and more with me.
