TXT Beomgyu — Who is the Moodmaker?

06.06.24 | fictiondipity.com | No Comments

Hi fiction lover! Last time, I wrote a brief introduction to Soobin and linked some ways to get to know him better! I realized that I’d like to do the same for all members of TOMORROW X TOGETHER. And through that, we will know them all a bit more and see what amazing storytellers the members are through their music. Have you dived into the TXT universe, known as the TU? I have to warn you, it’s quite the process to fully wrap your head around the group’s story. Anyway, TXT Beomgyu will endear you with his limitless energy, but also his ability to be quiet and introspective.

The Duality

Yes, duality is a word often thrown around in terms of idols, but I have to say that Beomgyu truly embodies the word. Enter the world of any variety show where TXT appears as a guest, and you’ll find Beomgyu at the forefront, leading the way in terms of volume and antics. He truly spares nothing when trying to entertain, and that means giving it all in laughter, pranks, cheekiness, and more! Don’t believe me? Take it from himself in his interview for Weverse Magazine:

“I’m the type to pour 100% of my energy into everything I do. I try to be as energetic as possible whether I’m on a variety show or performing on stage, so my batteries are always going from 100, down to 0, back to 100, to 0, and on and on.”

I didn’t share this in my Soobin intro, but reading through the interviews that Weverse Magazine does often gives a more intimate look into the members’ thoughts and artistry! Anyway, now you might think that Beomgyu is always a storm. However, when you watch his lives on Weverse you get to see a different side of him! Take his recent expedition into being a radio host in Beomedio. He was quiet and lowkey, so much so that MOA sent in comments worrying about him. However, he says he has a very chill side (read it in his words here), so don’t worry if he’s not always lively or upbeat.

If you watched ONE DREAM.TXT before, you might remember the clip of Beomgyu getting slightly heated when Huening Kai forgot to put his contacts in and was reading the prompter in rehearsals. You can tell that Beomgyu is a perfectionist and wants to put on a flawless performance, so he is often hard on himself when performances don’t go as planned. As the last to join the debut team, he often felt like he needed to catch up in terms of his abilities. Now, no one can tell that he had to catch up or had less time training.

I can go on and on in this section, but I’ll end it with saying that Beomgyu had his share of hard times as his trainee, which is what led him to produce and write “Maze in the Mirror.” (Look up the lyrics while listening and you will cry). One of his iconic quotes related to hard times? Comforting this MOA who was dealing with depression. Please don’t make me cry, Beomgyu!

Give Me More of TXT Beomgyu!

Speaking of iconic quotes, but on a lighter note, you can do yourself a favor by looking up “Beomgyu Iconic Lines” on YouTube. You will find everything from “do you know watermelon?” to “resistance!” and his many English catchphrases, including the most recent “I wasn’t born yesterday.” (Have you checked out his show Workout Zzang?)

I can’t leave you without mentioning Beomgyu’s covers. First, we have “Wonder,” which he performed in the 2024 Fanlive. Beautiful and soothing! Then we have “you!”, which was filmed in Tokyo, Japan and includes his emotive vocal color! His most recent cover is the lovely “Sukidakara.”

Beomgyu is a self-proclaimed nostalgic person. That means he loves the music his dad used to play in the car, and he gets starry-eyed when talking about some precious childhood moments. One of my favorite stories? When he opened up about something that terrified him in the past—the red cross—and he also mentions his faith as a Christian a bit. Here is the story.

I can go on and on about TXT Beomgyu, but I hope I left you with a good introduction to get a better sense of him. My recommendations to learn more about TXT in my Soobin post still stand. Thank you so much for reading, and have a happy day being a MOA! Check out my blog if you liked this post.
