5 Bookish YouTubers — Why You Should Watch Them!

19.11.25 | fictiondipity.com | No Comments

Hi, fiction lover! I’ve been taking a breather to watch some content from some of my favorite bookish YouTubers. I love watching fun videos to improve my craft, and I look for a range of topics, too. Sometimes, all you need to refresh your writing spark is the insight from someone who’s walked the path before you. From managing the business of an author to creating compelling characters, these five YouTubers are a bright light in the publishing industry. Let’s get started in discovering more!

Alexa Donne

Alexa Donne is a successful author and the creator of Author Mentor Match (the mentorship program that I graduated from!). I go to her for insights into the publishing industry—everything from navigating your relationship with your agent and editor to managing expectations when you’re a debut author. I love her informative style with a bit of humor and personality! Also, since she’s published multiple books, she knows quite a bit about changing up genres and your brand.

Kat Cho

Kat Cho is another successful author who got started writing YA fantasy. I love her insights into querying and story structure! If you’re a YA writer, I’m certain you will find her videos helpful. And if you’re a K-pop fan, she also makes content about Korean culture, which is related to her latest books.

ShaelinWrites

ShaelinWrites makes helpful long-form videos to improve your craft and improve your voice as a writer. I like following her journey of growth as a writer. It’s just a fun thing to be able to take in other people’s processes—what they find joy in, and what they struggle with during writing. Even though I know my process is not the same, it’s affirming to know that we all have our own ways of tackling revisions, killing our darlings, and polishing the final story.

Story Grid

Story Grid is run by Tim Grahl, a professional book marketer and author. I love the insights he gives about story structure. He also offers some gems about marketing—putting your book out there to the right people. All in all, I love the channel’s mission of helping authors succeed in leveling up their stories—crafting great scenes, finding your genre, and being your book’s best advocate.

Heart Breathings

Heart Breathings, a channel by Sarra Cannon, is an encouraging space for new authors and veteran authors alike. She runs a comprehensive course for indie authors, and she’s known for being extremely successful and prolific. I love her focus on compassion, giving yourself space to learn and make mistakes while still taking huge steps to make the author career possible.

Did you have fun coming along to learn about these bookish YouTubers? They definitely slay both on YouTube and in the writing world. Who are your favorite bookish YouTubers? Follow me on my blog for more posts about fiction and fandom!
